Sustainability Across Every Dimension

01

02

Transformation

As a 100% black-owned, Level 1 BEE company with 40% black female ownership, Letap is at the forefront of transformation in South Africa's fishing industry. We don't just comply we lead.

03

Community Development

We reinvest in South Africa creating jobs, building infrastructure, and contributing to a province that we call home. Our vision extends beyond profit to generational community impact.

Fishing for the Future

South Africa's fishing industry is governed by a science-based quota allocation system administered by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). Each year, scientists assess the biomass of key species and set a Total Allowable Catch (TAC) typically 10–25% of the biomass.

Letap Fishing operates strictly within its allocated quotas across all five sectors. We believe that sustainable fishing today is the only way to ensure viable fishing tomorrow for our business, our employees, and our communities.

Our squid jigging vessels use one-by-one fishing techniques that minimise bycatch and reduce ecosystem disturbance a responsible choice that aligns with global best practices in small-scale commercial fishing.

DFFE Quota Compliance

Full compliance with Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment allocations across all five sectors.

TAC Adherence

We operate within annually-determined Total Allowable Catch limits never overharvesting, always long-term focused.

Minimal Bycatch Methods

Squid jig fishing minimises bycatch. Our trawl operations use sector-standard gear designed to reduce non-target species capture.

Traceability

Our catch is fully traceable from vessel to market supporting both regulatory compliance and consumer confidence.
